30 workers quit over COVID-19 at Patan Hospital

LALITPUR: At Patan Hospital, of late, the number of staff resigning from their positions and opting to remain on unpaid leave has increased.

Over the past one and a half months, as many as 30 employees have resigned from their positions and 10 are currently on unpaid leave.

"Dr Ravi Shakya, the director of the hospital, said," The number of employees tendering resignations from their posts and demanding unpaid leave has increased late, due to growing cases of infection among employees, social stigma attached to the infected and pressure from their family members to quit employment.

The hospital has 1,500 staff members.

After the government designated this hospital a COVID Special Hospital, the number of patients with other illnesses also decreased significantly.

Meanwhile, since the number of patients seeking care for other diseases decreased, the hospital's monthly revenue has also decreased.
