Gurjo plantation drive accumulates pace in Kathmandu

KATHMANDU: The conveyance of therapeutic creeper "gurjo" or Giloy has assembled pace at the nearby degrees of government capital, Kathmandu, to push the drive for its plantation.

Head of Inland Revenue Office Lahan, Kamal Bahadur Rajalbat, who has been leading the mission, distributed the saplings of gurjo (Tinospora Sinensis) to three local people of the capital and four branches of the Tribhuvan University.

Campaigner Rajalbat disclosed to he gave 200 plants each to Budhanilakantha municipality and Mahalaxmi municipality and 300 plants to Suryabinayak municipality-5 as a component of his gurjo plantation drive.

Similarly, 800 plants were distributed to the Departments of Botany and Biology under the Kirtipur-based Tribhuvan University, he shared.

Thus, 300 saplings were distributed for plantation in Thaiba territory of Lalitpur.

As shared 35-kg gurjo creeper including tea powder was distributed to Covid tainted individuals going through treatment at segregation wards in Budhanilakantha municipality through Mayor Uddhab Prasad Kharel.

The mission of 'one house, one gurjo' plantation is progressively picking up energy in the Kathmandu Valley.

The tidy up campaigners of Bagmati, Rudramati, Bishnumati and Ring Road in the Kathmandu Valley have likewise joined their hands in the gurjo plantation crusade.

The gurjo plant has been utilized as prescriptions for diabetes, hypertension and occasional influenza.
