Kathmandu: A total of 1,550 saplings have been distributed free of cost on Saturday alone to launch a campaign to plant disease-resistant plants in river banks, public places and houses. Kamal Bahadur Rajalwat, who is working as the Chief Tax Officer at the Inland Revenue Office, Lahan, has produced seedlings from the gurjo planted in the government residence and provided them for planting in different parts of the country free of cost. He informed that after the demand for Gurjo saplings, they would take leave from the office and take it to different parts of the country

150 saplings have been distributed on Saturday to plant the beautiful cleaning campaign on the river bank. Campaigner Rajalwat said that the plant was handed over to Gurjo's plant cleaning coordinator Chandra Dangal. Similarly, 300 saplings have been handed over to Third Eye Youth Club of Naya Baneshwor, 100 to Gamcha Savings and Loan Cooperative Society Limited of Dadhikot in Bhaktapur and 400 saplings to be planted in public places of the ward and corona infected houses through Shobha Sapkota, chairperson of Kathmandu Metropolitan City Ward No. 14.

According to the ward office, Gurjo will be planted around the Bhubaneswar temple in Balkhu area. In Ward No. 14, 300 people currently living in isolation have been provided with Gurjo saplings and tea made from Gurjo to increase their immunity. 200 saplings have been distributed for planting in Adarsh Panchayat Vatika in Maitrinagar of Kirtipur Municipality Ward No. 2.

Senior comedian Harivansh Acharya, who is living in isolation due to corona infection, has also been provided tea and dust along with Gurjo's plants. Acharya's son reached Drug Cafe in Kupandol and distributed 100 Gurjo saplings to comedian Acharya and his staff. Earlier, Rajalwat had provided saplings for planting gurjo on the banks of rivers including Bagmati in the capital. He said that so far more than 95,000 Gurjo saplings have been distributed free of cost across the country.

They have also been distributing dust and tea at the Gurjo plantation site to help those struggling with the corona virus develop immunity to the disease. If you eat Gurjo dust in warm water on an empty stomach, you will feel fresh. It invigorates people by killing the germs inside the body.

Gurjo has been used as a medicine for diabetes, high blood pressure, seasonal colds and other ailments. Gurjo should not be used for pregnant women and children under the age of five. The nationwide Gurjo planting campaign has been intensified in the spirit of Ayurveda's 'Yasya Deshasya Yo Janto: Tasya Taddhasam Hitam', meaning that the place where a person is born has medicinal plants.

Campaigner Rajalwat has also informed that those who are in the habit of mixing Gurjo powder in lukewarm water and consuming it for a week will recover faster if they are corona positive. Campaigner Rajalwat is committed to provide free Gurjo seedlings, tea made from Gurjo and even dust to all those who demand it. It is the opinion of the people involved in this campaign that one house should be planted with one Gurjo tree all over the country. It is said that Rajalwat was assisted in the distribution of Gurjo saplings by yoga teacher and joint secretary of the National Planning Commission Kishor Joshi, life science instructor Ram Prasad Panthi and cleaning workers in various places in the valley.
