A Buddhist stupa has been found in the sanctum sanctorum of Shiva temple. This Buddhist stupa was buried under the Shiva temple. The sensational incident took place at Kondavidu Fort, 245 km from Guntur in Andhra Pradesh, India. This fort was established by the Reddy Empire in the 1st century.
Archaeologists are still struggling to gather enough evidence before reaching the final conclusions about whether the Shiva temple was built consciously or suddenly. Sometimes renewals also reveal the secrets of history. In fact, there were plans to demolish and renovate the old parts of the Shiva temple.
When the temple was demolished for reconstruction, the stupa was found under the temple. There is a plan to remove the Shiva temple and preserve the historical stupa after finding the Buddhist stupa. According to scientist, historian and Professor Rajendra Prasad Singh Ji Wal, the stupa is 4.5 feet high and is buried under the sanctum sanctorum of the Shiva temple.
The diameter is about 1 foot. The stupa is round and made of limestone. The stupa has 10 levels. The bottom layer is the shape of a lotus flower. A beautiful sculptural panel has been found along with the stupa. The railing horror has been found. Octagonal column found. An inscription in Brahmi was found. There are eight letters in the inscription.
