Gathamuga, the Ghantakarna festival celebrated on the day of Krishna Chaturdashi, falls on July 19 this year. In this festival, Ghantakarna, i.e. Gathamuga, made of reed and chhwali, is taken by the common people from the Newar settlement in Bhaktapur and burnt at Dobato, Tindobato and Chaubato.

Similarly, the Gaijatra festival, which will be celebrated for eight days starting from the day of Bhadra Shukla Pratipada, will be limited to formalities and Ghintanghisi dance and other performances will not be allowed, said Chief Prajapati of Bhaktapur Municipality. This year, Gaijatra has been held from July 7 to 8.

The main feature of Bhaktapur is the Ghintanghisi dance valley, which is originally celebrated in the Gaijatra in memory of the dead throughout the year by fighting with a stick of clay, Doksa and Tahamcha as a symbol of the cow. In Gaijatra, comedy, Ghochpech Devi dance, Bhairav ​​dance, Lucy dance, Mak Pyakhan, Nagancha Pyakhan, Mayur dance, Khayak dance, Khicha Pyakhan, Bear Pyakhan, Sinhasinhani dance, Kachamcha dance, Dhago Katne dance, Silu Wanegu Pyakhan etc. Is done.
