India is urging Nepal not to allow Nepalis to join disputed territory

KATHMANDU: The government of India sent a letter to the government of Nepal which instructed the latter not to allow Nepalis to enter the disputed territories including Limpiyadhura and Kalapani.

India ordered the District Administration Office, Darchula in writing not to send Nepalese people to Gunji, Kalapani and Limpiyadhura stating that they belonged to India.

The Indian administration Dharchula had claimed in a letter sent on July 14 that Nepalis had infiltrated the disputed territories stealthily with the intention of attracting media attention.

"Nepali people in different groups infiltrate Indian territories stealthily including Gunji, Kalapani, Limpiyadhura with the purpose of attracting media attention," reads the letter sent by the Dharchual administration.

On May 20, a revised map of Nepal including Limpiyadhura, Lipulekh, and Kalapani was made public by the Nepal Government. This newly updated Nepal map was endorsed by the Federal Parliament of Nepal on 13 June.

India, on the other hand, has been building infrastructures that claim these territories belong to India. The Nepal-India partnership has come from late after parliament approved Nepal's newly updated map.
