Govt decides to resume regular flights with preconditions from Sept 1

KATHMANDU: With some preconditions, the government agreed to resume daily international flights from some countries with effect from 1 September.

According to Government Spokesperson for Finance, Communications and Information Technology Dr. Yubaraj Khatiwada, a Cabinet meeting held on Thursday agreed to allow one flight a day for Nepali citizens and diplomats and international mission workers in Nepal.

Passengers from Malaysia, the United Arab Emirates, South Korea , Thailand, Japan, China , Hong Kong, Australia, Europe and the United States will be able to fly these flights.

According to Minister Dr. Khatiwada, these passengers must carry a COVID-19 negative certificate 72 hours before boarding the plane, barcode or printing copy of the online form filled out on the COVID-19 Crisis Management Center website and remain in the hotel quarantine for at least 7 days.

The meeting also agreed to continue the rescue flights to rescue the migrant workers from Saudi Arabia , the UAE, Qatar , Kuwait, Malaysia etc.

All passengers arriving with COVID-19 negative certificates via the rescue flight will be allowed to go home with a written promise to stay in the home quarantine for at least 14 days after the registration and health check-up and they will be monitored at the local level.
