NEA Managing Director Kul Man Ghising

KATHMANDU,  The four year term of the famous managing director of Nepal Electricity Authority, Kul Man Ghising, ends on September 14.

Although several officials inside and outside the authority have started lobbying to take the top spot, a segment of the public has called for Ghising to be reappointed, crediting him with the end of the regular power outage (loadshedding). Similarly, a union of the staff of the authority also formally requested his reappointment saying he also improved the authority of the organization.

Also, some Authority officials do not rule out the possibility of his reappointment, although no one is sure if he will get a second chance.

"The likelihood of his reappointment has increased late on the basis of his job success," says a source, "but if he is reappointed on the basis of his success and popularity, he must now give up his love of media attention." The source explains Energy Minister Barsha Man Pun heads the board of directors of the authority, but the minister is not credited with any reforms.

A ministry official says the team works every time but an individual gets rewards and Ghising's possibility of reappointment could be limited.

Ghising has not yet openly expressed his desire for the reappointment, but if the government considers him again, it has been learned, he's ready to work.
