Govt. demands that the public not buy onions for the next few of days

Following an excessive hike in the market price of onions, allegedly induced by black marketing, the government has called on people not to buy them for the next few days.

The Department of Trade, Supplies and Consumer Safety has released an appeal alleging that consumers are more likely to be deceived by black marketers at present.

It means that action against the black ma

rketers has been expedited by the department, indicating that the pric

e will soon fall.

Onions are not important commodities, so l

et's boycott them for a couple of days, "says Information Officer Rabindra Acharya of the Department," The merchants have now hidden them. They will soon, however, reduce the price if they don't rot.

He says that the department has also instructed local governments and district administration offices to efficie

ntly control the sector.

The official says that if they feel deceived the public should complain to the authorities.
