JAJARKOT: Taking into account the increasing cases of COVID-19, Jajarkot and Rukum West have placed a ban on fairs and jatras or processions.

In this regard, the executive meeting of the Bheri municipality, Barekot, took a decision while the district disaster management committee of Rukum West banned religious and festival fairs.

In Barekot, Ramidanda, Karkijyula, Sugukhal mela or fair are popular, while since Ghatasthapana the religious fair takes place in Rukum. By issuing a notice, all of the fairs were banned.

However, by observing social distance and following the health protocol, religious practices can be carried out, said Chief District Officer of Rukum West Badrinath Gaihre.

For the upcoming festivals, a standard operation procedure has also been developed.

A variety of religious, traditional and festival-focusedfairs and jatras are hosted by the district.

The major fairs that take place in the district every year during

this time of the year are Digre Saikumari, Chautara, Chisapani, Beltapu, Kunakhet, Shankhpip. RSS
