Locals of Khokana, Bungmati and Dukuchhap have been protesting since the past saying that the government is destroying settlements of religious and cultural importance.

Nepal Dangol, chairman of the People's Concern Committee Khokna, said that the government had started the construction work forcibly while everyone was inside the house during Kovid-19 despite their disagreement.

Earlier, the army had changed the demarcation of Khokna area and Mahadevtar Lane Danda area to settle the Khokana dispute.

The Nepal Army had stated that the general outline has been changed to protect the Sikali temple in Khokna area as well as the Kodesh area which has religious and cultural significance. However, the people of Khokna still do not agree.
