ILAM: A study conducted by Koshi Bird Society in different areas of Suryodaya Municipality and Rong Village Municipality of Ilam District has found rare birds in Ilam.

During the three-day study in Kanyam and Kuttidanda areas, various species of birds considered rare in Nepal were found. Sanjeev Acharya, president of the Koshi Word Society, said that species of birds including forest ticks, red dhande puspa kukil, big niltawa, sasiya, silver ear mesiya and red tail milla have been found in Nepal.

According to him, the small bird of forest species is considered rare in Nepal. The bird was found in Kanyam. Similarly, Acharya informed that the red dhande flower cuckoo, which is considered very rare in Nepal, was found for the first time in Kuttidanda area of ​​Rong village. The team has found 50-60 species of birds during the study.

A team comprising Koshi Word Society President Acharya, Society's Joint Secretary and Nature Guide Chakra Timsina, Wide Life Photographer (Word Watching) Sanjay Shrestha and Photo Journalist and Wildlife Conservation Entrepreneur Devendra Kharel visited Kuttidanda in Rong village and Kanyam area of ​​Suryodaya Municipality for three days. Was studied.

According to the team, the forest tiktike, red dhande puspa kukil species is found only in eastern Nepal. Engineer Devendra Kharel informed that these birds migrate to the hills in summer and lowlands in winter.

Engineer Kharel said that although Ilam district is a destination for domestic tourists, birds are a means of attracting foreign tourists. As foreign tourists are reserved for bird tourism, the team has stated that the birds should be counted and publicity should be spread. The team has stated that there are about 450 species of birds in Ilam district.

Currently, the Koshi Tappu Wildlife Sanctuary and the National Nature Conservation Fund are conserving the birds. There are 531 species of birds in the reserve and 888 species of birds in Nepal.
