BHAKTAPUR: Most of the animal slaughterhouses in Bhaktapur are found to be unfavorable for the health of consumers. During the monitoring of animal slaughterhouses conducted by Bhaktapur Municipality, it is seen that most of the animal slaughterhouses here are very dirty and this will adversely affect the health of the consumers. The slaughterhouses including Hanuman Ghat and Maheshwari were monitored today under the leadership of Raj Krishna Gora, coordinator of the market monitoring committee of the municipality.
He said that the meat going to the market from here would not be healthy as the slaughterhouse was dirty and it would adversely affect the health of the consumers. According to Gora, the abattoir should be more organized and run according to the prescribed criteria.
He said that most of the slaughterhouses did not have marble or tiles to clean the floor and walls easily, did not manage wastewater drainage, did not purify water, did not test whether animals were slaughtered and did not properly manage the waste after slaughtering pigs.
Maheshwari Suppliers, Jai Maheshwari Maa Fresh Meat, New Maheshwari Hygienic Meat Shop, slaughterhouse not paying attention to cleanliness, mincing machine and table not kept clean, apron white and not cleaned, garbage not managed. Market Inspector Ram Krishna Prajapati informed that some shops have been instructed to renew their shops within three days as they have not renewed the scales.
