APF establishes additional BOPs along the border with Nepal-India

KATHMANDU, The government is preparing to add to its existing border security measures 89 new border outposts. The new BOPs will be set up at both the Indian and Chinese boundaries.

 The Ministry of Home Affairs has already finalized the list of places where the BOPs are to be installed. The ministry has already acquired pieces of land required for the establishment of their offices and camps, it was learned. The government will be acquiring the requisite space on lease in a few locations.

As the Armed Police Force is currently being mobilized in the border security of the country, APF staff will also be mobilized in the new places.

There are actually 107 BOPs on the APF. Home Minister Ram Bahadur Thapa had ordered the APF to draw up a proposal to increase the number of these posts to 500. In response, the APF had also requested the recruitment of about 10,000 additional personnel.
