Meeting of the NCP Standing Committee adjourned until 28 July

KATHMANDU: A meeting of the Standing Committee of the ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP) was postponed for one week to resolve intra-party differences at the residence of the Prime Minister in Baluwatar.

On July 28, the conference was postponed until 11 am.

The President of the NCP and Prime Minister KP Oli abstained from the meeting today.

Meanwhile, the Standing Committee meeting instructed its leaders and cadres to involve in the natural disaster rescue and relief efforts, including the floods and landslides.

The meeting was expected to focus on narrowing the differences that surfaced within the party , especially between the two factions — one led by Prime Minister KP Oli and the other led by Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal and senior leader Madhav Kumar Nepal.

The Dahal-Nepal camp has demanded Prime Minister Oli 's resignation from both of his posts, including the party chairman, though the latter is adamant that he will not resign from any of his positions.

The SC meeting which began on July 24 has been hit after the resignation of the Prime Minister has become the meeting 's key agenda.

NCP Chairman Dahal and the Prime Minister, who held one-on-one talks, could not work out an agreement.

Both Oli and Dahal have stepped up late meetings with their camp leaders.
