KATHMANDU, German club Bayern Munich have secured a place in the
semi-finals of the European Champions League with a historic victory over
Spanish giants Barcelona. Bayern beat Barcelona 8-2 in the quarter-finals on
Friday night.
Bayern equalized 4-4 in the first and second half.
In which Thomas Muller and Countinho scored 2-2. This is Barcelona's worst
performance in the European Champions League. Thomas Muller scored the first
goal for Bayern in the fourth minute. But in the seventh minute, Bayern's Alaba
scored on his own post to give Barcelona the advantage.
But in the 21st minute, Perisic took the lead with
a second goal for Bayern. Ginnery scored the third goal in the 27th minute,
while Muller scored the fourth in the 31st minute. Luis Suarez
reduced the deficit in the 57th minute for Barcelona, who were trailing 4–1
in the first half, but Kimich scored the fifth goal in 63 minutes for Bayern
six minutes later.
The wire didn't stop there. Lewandowski scored the
sixth goal in the 82nd minute. With five minutes left, Philippe Coutinho, who
was on loan from Barcelona for Bayern, scored twice. After Coutinho scored
twice in the 85th and 89th minutes, Bayern secured their way to the semi-finals
with eight goals at Barcelona's post. Bayern will now face the winner of the
semi-final between English club Manchester City and French club Lyon.
