Bagmati: More than 25,000 farmers in Makawanpur district have discovered their bringing in milk production and deal as Hetauda Dairy Distribution Project under the Nepal Dairy Development Corporation buys milk they produce.
Around 200 dairy production cooperatives under the Project gather and buy milk the farmers produce. The project expects to deal with the market for milk by giving respectable costs to milk farmers produce and flexibly quality milk to purchasers in a simple manner, it has been said.
From 10,000 to 35,000 liters of milk has been gathered and sold consistently, said segment official of the Project Thakur Das Shrestha.
The project has the capacity of putting away 60,000 liters of milk a day. Moreover, it has the capacity of creating 3,000 liters of yogurt, ghee, and spread, each, consistently, and delivering 500 kilograms of cheddar.
Set up in 2030 B.S. with the budgetary and specialized help of the Government of Denmark, the Project has the capacity of handling 3000 liters of milk for each hour, said Shrestha. The extra milk has been shipped off Biratnagar in Morang district and Balaju in Kathmandu district to produce powdered milk, he said.
