Kathmandu: On the day of Bhaitika during this year's Tihar festival, the Bal Gopaleshwor Temple at historic Ranipokhari will be open to the public, it has been said. In the third week of September, the reconstruction of Ranipokhari and the temple destroyed by the 2015 earthquake was completed.
Prior to the Dashain festival starting on October 17, arrangements were underway for the head of state to inaugurate the newly reconstructed Ranipokhari, the National Reconstruction Authority said. Clean-up work was underway and electric lights were set up around the pond, NRA heritage expert Raju Man Manandhar said.
Owing to internal conflicts in the Kathmandu Metropolitan City and the Department of Archeology, the reconstruction did not take place in the next three years after the earthquake. Eventually, the NRA took over the restoration activities.
