Administration prepares to take action against Bhaktapur International Hospital

BHAKTAPUR: The District Administration Office Bhaktapur has decided to take action against Bhaktapur International Hospital at Thimi-3, Kaushaltar in Madhyapur after two people died of corona infection due to serious negligence of the hospital.

Bhaktapur Assistant Chief District Officer Mukesh Kumar Keshari said that a letter of explanation would be sent to the hospital on Sunday and action was being taken accordingly. He said that action could not be taken during the discussion between the victim and the hospital management on Friday. "Today, we discussed the incident at the hospital between the victim and the hospital management. On Sunday, we will take action including asking the hospital for an explanation, ”he said.

The 15-bed hospital admitted more than double the capacity and failed to provide oxygen in time, killing two of the corona patients who were being treated at the hospital on Thursday night. The deceased have been identified as Kamal Binayak, 45, of Bhaktapur and 60, of Pokhara. Kamal Binayak's man died on the way to the same hospital and Pokhara's man died on the way to Alka Hospital in Lalitpur.

According to sources, 28 corona infected people were admitted to the hospital on Thursday evening. The hospital had been pressurizing the relatives to take the patient to the hospital after an infected person died due to lack of oxygen in the hospital during the day and at night. Meanwhile, an infected person died on the way to Alka Hospital, Lalitpur.

After the death of the patient due to extreme negligence of the hospital, the relatives of the victim had chanted slogans at the hospital that night. In the process, there was a clash. The relatives have alleged that the hospital had taken out 14 patients and left them stranded without taking the patient's referral papers. The victim's family had reached the district administration office on Friday demanding proper compensation and action from the hospital, saying that the patient had died due to extreme negligence of the hospital.

The hospital was pressured to evacuate 14 patients on Thursday night. According to the source, four were taken to Bhaktapur Hospital and two to Summit Hospital.

Meanwhile, the hospital is going to compensate the families of the two corona infected who died while undergoing treatment at the hospital. During a meeting held between the victim and the hospital management at the District Administration Office under the supervision of the Chief District Officer on Friday, it was agreed to compensate the victim's family, said Keshari. He said further discussions would be held on what kind of compensation would be given. "In today's discussion, it has been agreed to compensate the victims. It has been agreed to decide the compensation through further discussions on Sunday, ”he said.

Similarly, the hospital management side admitted the shortcomings in the management of the hospital and committed to improve the situation in the coming days, said Assistant Principal Keshari.
