KATHMANDU, OTTAWA: The remains of 215 children killed 100 years ago have been found on the grounds of a boarding school built for Canada's indigenous community.

According to local tribal people, the remains belong to children who attended a boarding school more than a hundred years ago near Campus. Some of them were even 3 years old. But the incident was not documented by the boarding school administration.

The incident will be investigated and further facts will be made public next month. The incident is said to have taken place at a school here in the late 19th century. According to experts, by the end of the 19th century, Kamloops Indian Residential School was the largest of 139 boarding schools, with 500 students studying at one time.

The school was run by the Catholic Church under the Government of Canada (1890-1969). A total of 150,000 Indians were forcibly enrolled in the school during the school period. In addition, students were physically and sexually abused by the headmaster and other teachers, and were recruited to separate them from their language and culture.

Poverty, alcoholism, and domestic violence, as well as suicides, have long been blamed on the community.

At the time, a Truth and Reconciliation Commission had made public the fact that at least 3,200 children in various residential schools had lost their lives due to physical abuse or neglect. However, the exact number of such children is still unclear.

It is said that such incidents have also taken place in Campulus School. However, Canada apologized in 2008 for what it called "cultural genocide." - Agency:
