KATHMANDU: The big waterfowl, which is found only in summer, has been seen again in Kathmandu Valley after 38 years. Tourist and wildlife photographer Sanjay Tha: Shrestha and Sherpa French Pemba recorded a photo of a young bird on Tuesday morning. This bird was rarely found in the dry lands near the wetland. But after 38 years in the beautiful river of Bhaktapur, this bird Shrestha and Pemba have succeeded in capturing the camera.

 

Senior ornithologists Carol Inskip, Tim Inskip, Dr. The records were obtained after Hemsagar Baral and Hathan Chaudhary confirmed the discovery of a large waterfowl. The species, first recorded for Nepal by diplomat and bird expert Brian Hudson in the 19th century, has not been found in the valley since it was recorded by Fleming in 1976 and ornithologist Harisharan Nepali Kazi in 1983. This bird is found at an altitude of 75 to 1310 meters above sea level.

 

In 1988, ornithologist Rajendra Suwal observed 25 species in the Badaiya Lake of Bardiya district so far.

 

It is found from Shuklaphanta National Park in the west to Koshitappu Wildlife Sanctuary in the east.

 

Even before this, Sanjay had managed to re-record the rare winter visitor Kalotauke Bagedi in the Kathmandu Valley after 51 years. Similarly, Sanjay had taken a photo of a common reed bunting bird at Manhara in Bhaktapur. The photo of the bird proved to be new for Nepal.
