Walk to promote For Madhyapur Thimi heritage Place

 

Bhaktapur: The municipality has developed Heritage walk from Shankhadhar Chowk to Bode to develop Madhyapur Thimi as a destination for internal and external tourists. The municipality has organized a heritage walk for the journalists on Thursday to publicize the trekking and observe the heritage of the city.

Mayor Madan Sundar Shrestha said that the heritage walk was organized for the journalists with the objective of observing the ongoing reconstruction and development work in Madhyapur Thimi. During the trek, Mayor Shrestha gave information about important temples, ponds, falchas, stone fountains, Bihar, palaces and parks along the heritage walk.

The trek started from Shankdhar Chowk and ended at Shankdhar Park, Balkumari, Wamune Toll, Bishnuvir, Vishnukund, Nepal Korea Friendly Municipal Hospital, Nigupukhu, Siddhikali Temple Complex, Digu Baha, Bode Kumari Temple Complex and Park. Deputy Chief of Madhyapur Thimi Municipality Anjana Devi Madhikarmi, Ward President of Ward No. 4 Kumar Shrestha, and about three dozen media persons from different media outlets participated in the event.

The hill on the west side of Madhyapur Thimi Shankhadhar Chowk, which was once full of garbage and weeds, is now being transformed into a park. The municipality has developed it as Shankhadhar Park. Three streams of stone have been constructed in the park. Green link has been planted in some places. Stairs make the park more attractive.

The pond on the southwest side of the Balkumari temple was in a dilapidated condition. The municipality has started its renovation a few months ago. Now it is being perfected. Mayor Shrestha has posted Gajur at the main entrance of the pond on Thursday. Similarly, the reconstruction work of Wamune Ganesh Temple in Wamune Tole is in the final stage. He said that only the gate of the temple remains to be kept. Reconstruction of the temple was started on April 25.

Within Madhyapur Thimi Municipality, Shankhadhar Park, Balkumari Pond, Wamune Ganesh Temple as well as dozens of temples, Pati, Pauwa, Pond, Dhungedhara, Bihar and other heritages are being reconstructed, restored and protected. In the four years since the restoration of municipal people's representatives, 113 different properties have been constructed and dilapidated. Of them, there are 23 temples, 37 falchas, 25 stone fountains, 20 dug wells, 5 bihars and 3 palaces. Mayor Shrestha said that Rs. 750 million has been spent on the construction and renovation of the property in four years and an additional Rs. 350 million has been allocated for the coming fiscal year.
