KANCHANPUR: Birds will be counted in 66 districts of the country, including Kanchanpur, from March 22 through an app called 'Neighboring Birds'. Nepal Bird Conservation Association is going to count birds for the first time in Nepal through the app.
Bird expert of the association Hirulal Dagora said that the birds will be counted by deploying volunteers. He said that the volunteers would download the app on their mobile phones and take photos of the birds found in different places and upload them in the app.
Volunteers download the Neighboring Bird app on their mobile phones, take photos of birds found near their homes, neighborhoods, streets, schools, parks and other areas, upload them to the app and document them, ”said Dagora. Volunteers upload photos from the place where they live, along with bird species and numbers, to the app. '
In the first phase, the birds will be counted for half an hour through volunteers, said ornithologist Dagoura. He said that the date of the second phase will be decided after analyzing it. Dagoura said the results would be made public on local media and Worldlife Nepal's website based on photos sent by volunteers through the app.
He informed that preparations for the bird census had started two months ago. According to Dagora, more than a thousand volunteers will be mobilized for the census. Earlier, only those working in the field of bird conservation were included for bird counting, but this time the locals have also been included.
According to Dagora, bird counting is being done through the app to show the importance of birds, to make the neighbors bird friendly and to make the public aware about bird conservation. The list of birds found in Nepal is kept in the app. Neighboring bird page can be followed on social network Facebook and app instruction video can be watched on YouTube
