Kathmandu: Preliminary research confirms that the 1400-year-old inscription found in the Patan Durbar area was a Lichchhavi Buddhist monastery. The transliteration has been completed by studying the received inscription.
While digging the ditch, a 6-foot-long Buddhist Dharmma Chakra and Shravaka deer-carved inscription of Mahasamanta Anshuvarma was found in front of the Bhimsen temple on December 20. The work of transcribing and reading the 72-letter Licchavi script and the script using the adult Sanskrit language has been completed.
The calligrapher Shyam Sundar Rajbanshi translated the inscription by transliteration. He informed that the inscription states that Anshu Varma had issued an order from Kailashkut Bhawan to renovate and protect the 300-year-old Buddhist metal Chaityarath made by Lichhavi king Vrishdev.
The translation of the inscription is as follows-
‘Well done. From the Kailaskut building, believing in his deeds and working hard without being distracted in the slightest, he has commanded the people of Yobrangram, Lavangram and above, the people of Somplingram and the chiefs there. Shri Anshu Varma built a new temple with a metal chaityaratha built by King Shri Vrishdev. The Bhagavad-gita was given to Gosthi for its daily worship. All the three panchalikas, including Yobrangram, Lavangram and Saupalingram panchalikas, were given the authority to provide satisfactory expenses to the conference so that there would be no deviation in it. You should know this. Therefore, knowing this, those who make a living on our behalf and others should not do the work of this religion otherwise. We will not tolerate anyone who disobeys this command and does otherwise. Subsequent kings, too, should respect the rule of law and observe the work of religion with reverence. In the year 536, the seniority fee is full. The messenger of this talk is Kumaramatya Chandrajiv. '
According to the dynasty, even the ancient Manichaitya on the Mangah Hiti of Lalitpur is an integral part of the ancient Buddhist monastery. He says that Taurus is a king who has a lot of faith in Buddhism.
According to Rajbanshi, the artwork and heritage made of metal has been confirmed by the inscription even in the time of Vrishdev. Guthi has also been arranged for its protection, he said.
