Agency: Russian President Vladimir Putin has called for a special military operation in Ukraine. Many countries around the world have opposed the Russian invasion of Ukraine. Western nations, including the United States, have imposed the toughest economic sanctions on Russia in history. Opposition to the Russian invasion has begun not only outside but also inside Russia.
An incident of protest that took place on Monday night is now being discussed all over the world. According to the British newspaper The Guardian, while the news was being broadcast on Russian state-owned television channel One, a woman broke into the studio and showed anti-war placards.
Marina Obsyannikova, editor of Channel One, said in a statement that millions of Russians were watching the news. War is not needed. Don't believe this propaganda, they are lying. "The Russian people are against the war," she said. The newscaster read the news aloud after Marina entered the studio and showed the placard.
After Marina showed the placard for a few seconds, another recorded material was played on the television. Marina, who broke into the studio in the middle of the news, has been arrested. Russian President Vladimir Putin recently passed a law banning the invasion of Ukraine.
The law provides for up to 15 years in prison if the media calls the attack a war. Putin has shut down some independent media outlets since the February 12 attack on Ukraine. Russian state media do not show pictures of the Ukraine invasion.
Everything seems to be going well in the media. Knowing all this, Marina protested. She recorded a video before showing the placard on television news.
It has also been aired on Human Rights Media Project OVD Info. In the video, Marina says she has been frustrated by years of Russian propaganda.
Marina, wearing a blue and yellow necklace matching the Ukrainian flag, said in the video that her mother was Ukrainian and her father was Russian. "Even though we have been inhumane for a long time, the world is now opposed to the Russian invasion," she said.
